Our Story

Locally Grown Comedy is an award winning, filmed comedy and musical sketch show, created completely in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We feature a rotating cast and crew from the Midwest, which include 70+ diverse creators (diverse in gender, sexual orientation, body types, race, ability, age, etc). We are a female-led, non-profit company, looking to add to the thriving film, comedy and music industry in Minnesota, in hopes of highlighting all of our arts’ outlets into one fun project.
It is important to us to make you laugh.
To make you think.
To entertain you.
And to remind you that we’re the midwest, baby; and we’re funny as hell.
Created in August of 2021 (first filmed in March of 2022), we were organized and created by Brittany D. Parker, a performer in the musical theater, film and comedy world. Her passion for making people laugh, inclusivity, and her community, drove her to establish LGC. Producer Tony Denman has been a film and theater actor since his early days, right here in Minnesota, then to LA, then off to England, back to LA and then once again to Minneapolis… because who can resist Minnesota?? We have found actual magic within our crew; our lead cinematographer, David “DI” Ishida, sound crew Owen Brafford, David Canada (not pictured above…YET!) and Adam Biel, along with our newest addition, Thomas Vandendolder (gaffer) make us look and sound good… AND WE CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH!! Production manager Patrick McIntyre, an improviser and film actor, was a welcomed addition in the spring of 2022, along with the ever amazing Bri Patnode (also not pictured above … yet!), who is both our wardrobe supervisor and a hilarious actor. Brittany and Tony thank them all tremendously for their talent and hardwork (along with the rest of our kickass cast and crew, of course!) In September of 2022, Locally Grown Comedy was awarded “Best New Minnesota Project”, at Catalyst Stories Film Festival (the largest film festival in the midwest)… we are excited to continue to make our state proud.
Our company values pushing the boundries and also being a safe space for all of our artists to play. We are not afraid to say what we feel with our comedy and music, and we will always stand with, continue to promote and speak up for our female identifying, LGBTQIA+, BIMPOC and AAPI players. Period.
